授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
Content In recent years, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have gained widespread attention, with governments, corporations, and educational institutions emphasizing their importance. While learning about the SDGs is certainly relevant in today’s world, the true value lies in the ability to critically examine the complex issues underlying each of the 17 goals. This course aims to equip students with the tools to engage thoughtfully with these global challenges, empowering them to become informed and active global citizens through a deeper understanding of the SDGs. The course has three key goals. First, it will introduce students to the range of perspectives behind the selection and implementation of each Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). Second, the course will engage students in activities designed to enhance their critical thinking, encouraging them to assess whether the way global issues are framed truly represents the complexity of real-world situations. Lastly, students will explore their roles as global citizens, considering how they can contribute—if at all—to addressing global challenges, given their age and geographical context. Reading & Discussion ?read and evaluate texts in social sciences and humanities ?express one’s opinions about the course topic in a discussion constructively Writing & Presentations ?write a research paper on the course topic with appropriate citation (600-900 words + bibliography) ?make a visually aided presentation of the paper Class is taught and participated in English. |

To support these goals, the course will incorporate active learning strategies such as role-playing, case studies, simulations, problem-based discussions, among others, in addition to traditional lectures. The aim is to improve students’ comprehension, broaden their socio-cultural awareness, and promote a mindset of inquiry. Rather than simply forming judgments, students will be encouraged to develop critical questions that challenge assumptions and deepen their understanding. A combination of an interactive lecture and active learning including group work, group discussions, and oral presentations |
